Position Summary/Position


Under the direction of the Reconciliation & Reporting Supervisor, the Senior Accountant – Financial Compliance will lead the general accounting functions including developing claim refund reconciliations, journal entries, and data compilation and analysis.  The Senior Accountant – Financial Compliance is responsible for completing a reconciliation process for outside vendor invoices, creating open recovery receivables, and ensuring the accuracy of refund applications.

Major Functions (Duties and Responsibilities)


1. Perform account reconciliations with supporting workpapers and perform appropriate research to ensure proper application of refunds.
2. Responsible for completing assigned month-end close duties in an accurate and timely manner.
3. Responsible for the analysis and reconciliation of assigned accounts each month and supporting workpapers.
4. Maintain department records and reports and collect data for administrative and regulatory purposes.
5. Prepare monthly journal entries, work papers and management reports.
6. Analyze and report on refund variances.
7. Monitor the open refund receivables and provide report on aging receivables.  
8. Assist with special projects or any other duties as required.
9. Investigate and report on trend and budget variances.
10. Able to identify accounting issues, handle advanced accounting research and advise staff on proper accounting principles.
11. Perform special analysis on financial data impacting business operations.
12. Assist with ad-hoc projects or any other duties as required to ensure IEHP operations are successful.
13. Assist in the implementation and maintenance of process improvement activities.
14. Act as a trusted resource for the organization and consistently demonstrate IEHP organizational values while building and maintaining strong internal relationships.

Experience Qualifications


Five (5) or more years of accounting experience; knowledge and abilities listed, including experience assisting with financial audits. 

Preferred Experience


Principles and practices of the health care industry and/or health care accounting preferred.

Education Qualifications


Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or a related field from an accredited institution required.

 CPA preferred.

Drivers License Required

Yes, must have a valid California Driver's License.

Knowledge Requirement


Solid accounting background including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Knowledge of Claim payment practices preferred. Principles and methods of planning, managing, and maintaining an automated accounting system. Strong analytical skills. Ability to calculate and prepare appropriate journal entries to record business transactions.

Skills Requirement


Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Microsoft Access, SQL, and Advanced Excel.

Starting Salary: $75,296.00  - $95,992.00  

Pay rate will commensurate with experience
