Position Summary/Position

 

Under the general direction of the Director, Process Improvement Sensei, the Process Improvement Facilitator II evaluates process improvement programs, leads and facilitates improvement projects, including Kaizen Events, Value Stream Mapping sessions, and other kaizen events, and contributes to the development and implementation of improvement programs across the organization. 

Major Functions (Duties and Responsibilities)

 

  1. Consults owners, leaders, sponsors and teams in events and workshop activities by utilizing Lean process improvement tools and methodology.
  2. Leads the facilitation of improvement projects and events, including assessment, planning, event facilitation, and follow-up/sustainability, with little to no coaching. 
  3. In concert with project sponsors, Process Improvement Facilitators and Process Improvement Leadership, assess and identify problems and opportunities, leads the activities of the improvement team, identify appropriate resources needed, and develop schedules to ensure timely completion of improvement project.
  4. Lead and support the development of office infrastructure, including Lean best practices, tools, and methods essential for Lean education and promotion of Lean thinking throughout the organization. 
  5. Provides education and training for management and Team Members relating to project requirements using various tools such as event-based training and other formal and informal educational opportunities.
  6. Coaches process owners to track and report results from improvement efforts.  Contributes to the collection and analysis of data, data maintenance and assist in preparing reports to support decision-making and continuous improvement. Ability to translate data into meaningful information, draw conclusions and shape work at the department level.
  7. Provides guidance for improvement programs to departments and project Team Members by defining program intent and assisting with the development of deliverables to ensure project goals are met.
  8. Establish effective working relationships & maintain communication with project owners and sponsors, project oversight group members and key stakeholders.

Experience Qualifications

 

Two (2) years of demonstrated experience, at a professional level, in process/project management including participation in improvement projects or operations and two (2) years in a dedicated Lean role. Experience with advanced Lean technical concepts such as level loading, pull, mistake proofing and rapid changeover.

Preferred Experience

 

Project Management, Lean, Six Sigma or other problem-solving methodology preferred. Prior health care experience preferred.

Education Qualifications

 

High school diploma or GED required. 

Preferred Education

 

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution preferred.

Professional Certification

 

Certified trainer or group facilitator preferred.

Knowledge Requirement

 

Knowledge of Lean tools and methodologies, including A3 thinking, Kaizen events, value stream mapping and Lean technical concepts such as 5S, quality, flow, and visual systems.

Skills Requirement

 

Demonstrated skills in successfully working with and motivating diverse work teams, including group process facilitation, change management and conflict resolution. Skilled in teaching improvement concepts and principles to diverse audiences from Senior Management to frontline staff. Excellent project management skills. Strong communication skills (verbal, written and listening). Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.  Highly proficient in all Microsoft Office applications, with an emphasis on Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.

Abilities Requirement

 

Ability to interact effectively. Must be comfortable speaking in public speaking and to varied audiences. Ability to read and interpret data and translate data into meaningful information to shape work at both the department and enterprise level. Able to perform complex tasks, prioritize multiple projects and work under pressure to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

A reasonable salary expectation is between $70,012.80 and $89,273.60, based upon experience and internal equity.
