Position Summary/Position
The Manager of Strategic Decision Support is responsible for managing a team of actuarial analysts that provide actuarial and analytical modeling to executive leadership on enterprise-wide decisions and strategies. The ideal candidate is technical, grounded in sound actuarial principles, big picture oriented, can think strategically, and is comfortable presenting complex financial information to executives.
Major Functions (Duties and Responsibilities)
1. Proactively manage project-based work, help define project scope, identify ideal team to execute on work, define and manage timelines.
2. Perform provider contract re-pricing and provider network analytics to support network strategy.
3. Develop scenario models based on healthcare claims data and key clinical/actuarial/business assumptions to solve strategic business problems.
4. Conduct complex claims analyses utilizing IEHP EDW.
5. Navigate ambiguity; create an organized and structured approach to ambiguous projects.
6. Contribute to developing and shaping this new department.
7. Develop actionable recommendations to management relative to all analyses.
8. Perform actuarial research, experience studies and statistical analyses.
9. Perform ad hoc actuarial projects and other duties as assigned or requested.
10. Serve as a SME for these activities.
11. Provide training and guidance to other actuarial associates.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Experience Qualifications
Eight (8) years of actuarial experience with an ASA and health care experience. Two (2) years of managing experience is required. Actuarial experience in healthcare industry is required.
Preferred Experience
Medicaid experience is preferred. Medi-Cal experience is highly desired. Consulting experience is preferred.
Education Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required.
Preferred Education
Professional Certification
Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) is required; Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) is preferred.

Drivers License Required
Knowledge Requirement
SQL Programming knowledge is preferred.
Skills Requirement
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both oral & written) and organization skills.
Abilities Requirement
Ability to work independently and take initiative. Ability to identify and resolve problems, think creatively, strategically, and analytically. Ability to apply extensive knowledge of actuarial methods and procedures. Extremely organized, sharp attention to detail, strong work ethic, expansive learner.

Physical Requirements
Starting Salary: $144,976.00 - $184,849.60
Pay rate will commensurate with experience
