Position Summary/Position

 

The Manager, Innovation Portfolio Management is responsible to coordinate all initiatives across the Innovation Acceleration Team. This position will lead the management of the enterprise portfolio spanning multiple strategic and organizational innovation initiatives to maximize value creation and execution for goal attainment. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining the tools, and operational framework for continual intake, monitoring, and prioritization of enterprise initiatives. The Manager, Innovation Portfolio Management establishes and maintains sustainable reporting processes and communication, acting as a primary resource to stakeholders at many levels (e.g. business owners, executive leadership, technology partners, community partnerships) for the reporting of state and performance of initiatives / experiments within the portfolio. The incumbent provides and escalates data on achieving an optimized mix among experiments and initiatives.

Major Functions (Duties and Responsibilities)

 

1. Facilitate and coordinate the efforts of leadership towards the establishment of the Innovation portfolio definition, structure, and processes. This includes demand management and strategic alignment of efforts; evaluation, selection and prioritization; execution, tracking and measuring achieved results.
2. Conduct portfolio review with senior leaders, stakeholders, governance teams and other relevant bodies. 
3. Oversee and coordinate dependencies across initiatives in the portfolio and resolve or escalate conflicts.
4. Implement data driven portfolio decision making.
5. Build metrics, dashboards, and reporting mechanisms using Power BI, or other platforms to track activity and tie to outcomes. Use insights from this data as a feedback loop to improve and refine the program.
6. Provide guidance with scalable mechanisms to support new hire onboarding, mentoring, and continuous enablement.
7. Oversee the capture of learnings from innovation initiatives (incl. case study preparation, reference development).
8. Develop reusable assets that can be used to engage and build awareness around the Innovation program amongst external and internal partners.
9. Develop mechanisms for capturing and codifying learnings from program engagements and team-wide experiments to allow for more scaled / programmatic delivery.
10. Manage operational governance of Innovation team – knowledge sharing, team meetings, project planning, key program deliverables for planning, and tooling (i.e., Jive, Wiki, Miro, etc.).
11. Drive end to end management of business goals through operating autonomously.
12. Support ongoing monthly, quarterly, and annual operating cadences of the team; to include the annual strategic planning process and monthly reviews.
13. Conduct risk management, forecasting and portfolio planning.
14. Manage the development and maintenance of communications and reporting about the Innovation portfolio, their contents and the performance of initiatives.

Experience Qualifications

 

Minimum of ten (10) years of experience with program or portfolios across major projects and programs. Experience with product, project and program delivery methods. Experience driving change and facilitating collaboration and action in highly distributed organizations. Experience with product management and solution development.

Preferred Experience

 

Health plan experience preferred.

Education Qualifications

 

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required.

Preferred Education

Professional Certification

 

Certifications in technology-related and project management disciplines preferred. Project management professional (PMP) certification preferred.

Professional Licenses

Drivers License Required

Yes, must have a valid California Driver's License.

Knowledge Requirement

 

  • Strong understanding of project and portfolio management techniques.
  • Understands the interaction of organizational strategy, resources and financial goals and prioritization techniques

Working Conditions

 

Position is eligible for telecommuting/remote work location model upon completing the necessary steps and receiving HR approval. The incumbent approved to telecommute may periodically be required to report to IEHP’s main campus for mandatory in-person meetings or for other business needs determined by IEHP leadership.

Starting Salary: $118,248.00  - $150,779.20  

Pay rate will commensurate with experience
