Position Summary/Position


The Manager, Human Resources will manage and oversee IEHP’s workers’ compensation and leave of absence teams within the Human Resources Total Rewards unit. The Manager, Human Resources will lead and provide guidance to the daily activities and processes of the team, assist Team Members that require additional assistance as they navigate through a leave of absence event, including workers’ compensation, injury prevention, accommodations under Americans with Disabilities Act, and ergonomics. This position will also ensure programs and policies are maintained to meet applicable regulations and IEHP practices, preparing and presenting required reports, and monitoring and evaluating program activities to ensure compliance is met and quality service is provided to Team Members.

Major Functions (Duties and Responsibilities)


1. Manage the administration and process flows for all leave of absence and workers’ compensation programs and provide strong expertise as it relates to legislation, education, policy and practice.
2. Direct the development, implementation and administration of HR policies, processes, and procedures consistent with current law and best practices, including those with respect to protected and unprotected leaves of absence, reasonable accommodation requests under the ADA, state and other relevant federal and local laws, COVID-19, workers’ compensation and ergonomics.
3. Partner with workers’ compensation insurance carrier to facilitate resolutions with contacting relevant parties to address claim management escalations.
4. Recommend, implement, and support enhancements to and ensure compliance with IEHP’s leave of absences, workers’ compensation, accommodations, and ergonomics. Partner with HR Management to address escalated employee leave matters and recommend solutions to prevent future implications.
5. Design, prepare, update, and distribute Team Member and leader communication and training related to leaves of absence, workers’ compensation, ADA, and ergonomics.  Aid and support Leaders and/or Team Members’ understanding of leave programs offered and eligibility requirements through individual and group meetings or training sessions.
6. Manage and provide guidance to staff and leaders regarding Team Members who are unwilling or unable to return to work by ensuring IEHP engages in the interactive process.
7. Manage staff as it relates to developing, training, and performance management.
8. Oversee annual OSHA reporting requirements. 
9. Maintain up to date knowledge of trends and best practices impacting worker's compensation and leave programs.
10. Partner with applicable teams on process improvement initiatives and make recommendations to HR Director.  Contribute to strategic decisions as well as daily functions.
11. Collaborate with the Benefits team to plan and implement events and activities for the Team Member Wellness Program. 
12. Preserve confidentiality of Team Member data and information.

Experience Qualifications


Minimum six (6) years of Human Resources experience in leave of absence and/or workers’ compensation administration. Minimum two (2) years of leadership experience or in a lead capacity in Human Resources environment.

Education Qualifications


Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or relevant field from an accredited institution required.

Preferred Education


Master’s degree from an accredited institution preferred. 

Professional Certification


PHR or SPHR certification preferred.

Drivers License Required

Yes, must have a valid California Driver's License.

Knowledge Requirement


Broad understanding of Human Resources principles, procedures and practices.  Knowledge and understanding of California state and federal laws including ADA, FMLA, CFRA, Title VII, workers’ compensation and wage and hour laws.

Skills Requirement


Excellent verbal and written communication with critical thinking skills. Strong computer proficiency and technical aptitude. Skilled in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Teams, etc. Outstanding interpersonal skills to build and enhance internal and external relationships. Excellent time management skills. Strong leadership and team management skills.

A reasonable salary expectation is between $118,248.00 and $150,779.20, based upon experience and internal equity.
