Position Summary/Position

 

The Manager of Actuarial Services is responsible for managing a team of analysts that provides actuarial support to various departments and company key initiatives. Provide actuarial analysis and pro-active recommendations to management on both tactical and strategic nature. 

Major Functions (Duties and Responsibilities)

 

1. Perform actuarial research, experience studies and statistical analyses.
2. Develop actionable recommendations to management relative to all analyses.
3. Calculate monthly IBNR and reserves.
4. Provide actuarial support for financial forecasts and monitor financial results.
5. Perform actuarial analysis to assist with provider contracting effort.
6. Assist with rate development and perform reviews for data adequacy and actuarial soundness.
7. Evaluate Government reimbursement process to determine areas of risk and opportunity.
8. Oversee health plan experience, identify trends and recommend improvements.
9. Develop and maintain documentation and provide data to external agencies like auditors, DOI, DMHC, DHCS, etc.) as needed.
10. Perform ad hoc actuarial projects and other duties as assigned or requested.
11. Serve as a SME for these activities.
12. Provide training and guidance to other actuarial associates.

Experience Qualifications

 

Eight (8) years of actuarial experience with the ASA and health care experience. Two (2) years of managing experience is required.

Preferred Experience

 

Medicaid experience is preferred. Medi-Cal experience is highly desired.

Education Qualifications

 

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution required.

Preferred Education

Professional Certification

 

Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) is required. 

Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) is preferred.

Knowledge Requirement

 

SQL Programming knowledge is preferred.

Skills Requirement

 

Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) and organization skills.

Working Conditions

 

Position is eligible for telecommuting/remote work location model upon completing the necessary steps and receiving HR approval. The incumbent approved to telecommute may periodically be required to report to IEHP’s main campus for mandatory in-person meetings or for other business needs determined by IEHP leadership.

A reasonable salary expectation is between $153,670.40 and $195,936.00, based upon experience and internal equity.
