Position Summary/Position


Under the direction of the Director, Technology – Infrastructure Services, the IT Architect III - Network SME will be responsible for design configuration, administration, and maintenance of the IEHP’s Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) which are Cisco Network systems. The IT Architect III - Network SME responsibility will be to ensure the stable operation of the in-house computer and systems network(s). This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all Network Appliance Hardware and software, and all communication circuits.  

Major Functions (Duties and Responsibilities)


1. Design, configure, implement, and install local and wide area network solutions between multiple platforms.
2. Lead collaborative and outreach efforts to architect business networking infrastructure (e.g., switching, routing, data center networking, firewalls, Wi-Fi) that serves the widely diverse campus needs of internal departments.
3. Implement projects, systems, and issues of medium to high complexity surrounding network planning, configuration and optimization including keeping disaster recovery plans up-to-date, as required, and configuring the network to support recovery objectives to ensure business continuity.
4. Perform network risk assessments, implement tech solutions, and assist with internal or external network security audits, Disaster Recovery testing, and maintenance.
5. Provide ongoing technical support to remote area networks, Internet, and VPN communications.
6. Perform troubleshooting network usage, perimeter security and all network appliances.
7. Develop and implement policies and standards to ensure security procedures are followed.
8. Build networks and maintain external and internal web presence, administers the networks.  
9. Perform Network Systems Appliance backups on internal and external Backbone Devices.
10. Document network infrastructure and design.
11.  Assist with space planning associated with network infrastructure needs.
12. Research, order, configure, and administer WAN circuits.
13. Work with vendors, clients, carriers, and technical staff on network implementation, optimization, and ongoing management.
14. Assist in design, installation, and management of network security solutions.
15. Provide level III support on client level IT issues resulting in production downtime.

Experience Qualifications


Minimum nine (9) years of Network Design and Administration hands on experience with Palo Alto Networks, Cisco routers, switches and security solution and Cisco recommended best practices.

Education Qualifications


Bachelor’s degree in a computer related field or similar technical field from an accredited institution required.

Professional Certification


CCNP preferred.

Drivers License Required

Yes, must have a valid California Driver's License.

Knowledge Requirement


Extensive knowledge in TCP/IP and multi-routing protocols. Working knowledge with all Cisco Platforms, including Catalysis, Nexus, ISR, ASR, ASA and Wireless Controller with AirOnet Access Point, Palo Alto Firewalls and T1, Layer 2, MPLS WAN circuits.

Starting Salary: $126,256.00  - $160,992.00
