Position Summary/Position


Under the direction of the Director of Health Education, the Health Educator assists in the development and implementation of IEHP Member Health Education Programs and services. 


Major Functions (Duties and Responsibilities)


  1. Review educational materials for current clinical content, reading level, cultural and population appropriateness.
  2. Research and write IEHP-specific health education materials and curricula as mandated by regulatory and accreditation agencies, and in collaboration with other relevant IEHP departments.
  3. Develop and implement population-specific health education programs.
  4. Provide health education to Members.
  5. Provide technical assistance to IPAs, practitioners, and contracted Providers in implementing health education programs and services.
  6. Assist in developing and monitoring IEHP Health Education standards and training protocols.
  7. Participate in community education and outreach activities.
  8. Oversee Health Education Professional Service Agreements. 
  9. Oversee and assist in daily operations and processes for assigned Health Education Programs.

Experience Qualifications

Three (3) or more years of experience in health education, program planning, evaluation, and policy development preferably in a healthcare or managed care setting.

Preferred Experience
Education Qualifications

Master’s degree required, in Public Health in Health Education or in related field equivalent to public health or health promotion experience. Attainment of Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) status is preferred.


Preferred Education

Attainment of Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) status is preferred.

Professional Certification


Attainment of Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) status is preferred.

Professional Licenses
Drivers License Required
Yes, must have a valid California Driver's License.
Knowledge Requirement

Possess subject matter expertise around a discipline of health education such as chronic condition prevention, nutrition, behavioral health, and knowledge working across the lifecycle.

Working Conditions

Word processing involving computer keyboard and screens, automobile travel within the Inland Empire.  Must be able to lift, push or pull up to 25 lbs.  Items weighing more than 25 pounds will require assistance when moving.  Back support belts must be worn while lifting, pushing or pulling items.


Physical Requirements


Starting Salary: $61,609.00  - $78,520.00  

Pay rate will commensurate with experience
