Position Summary/Position


This is a unique opportunity to play a very active role supporting a high-profile CEO and executive team during an exciting time of growth and transformation. Under the direction of the Director of Executive Communications, the Executive Communications Writer will provide support and share accountability for the end-to-end, high-level content requirements of the Executive Office. 

The Executive Communications Writer will be responsible for the development of internal and external communications that will assist IEHP’s executive office accomplish its strategic communications goals to members, providers, healthcare regulatory agencies, media publications, stakeholders and the community. 

The Executive Communications Writer will work closely with the EC director to develop high-quality letters, speeches, quotes, internal memos, talking points, power point presentations, videos and long-form pieces (op-eds) for the CEO and company executives. To develop all materials requested, the writer will work with applicable departments, executive leaders and subject matter experts to ensure projects are completed, measured and delivered on time.

Major Functions (Duties and Responsibilities)


1. Work with executive leaders and subject matter experts to write high-level, strategic communications on behalf of executive staff including comment and advocacy letters, talking points, speaking events, employee meetings, video scripts, white papers, op-eds, media by-lines, etc.
2. Translate complex concepts into powerful language for a wide range of audiences, including speeches, reports, presentations, op-eds, web content, and collateral material. 
3. Prepare polished final drafts of high-level strategic communications for internal and external audiences, including researching, consulting with relevant colleagues, and writing original works. 
4. Actively edit and provide feedback on executive communications drafted by others at the health plan. Review material regularly for consistency and editorial quality.
5. Research, report and develop communications related organizational initiatives, updates and successes.
6. Communicate and adapt complex information for targeted audiences.
7. Stay current on health plan trends, social issues, and health care industry news, and ensure the CEO's messaging reflects prevailing global sentiments and events.
8. Collaborate closely with peers, including Marketing, Strategy, Provider Communications, Human Resources and other health plan colleagues. 
9. Ability to write powerfully, effectively, creatively, and clearly across a range of media—often while working under tight deadlines.
10. Ability to capture the distinctive voice of the CEO in speeches, remarks, op-eds, presentations, and other written works.
11. Responsible for developing complex written content and technical commentary and aligning writing style to the audience requirement.
12. Perform related duties & responsibilities as assigned.

Experience Qualifications


Five to eight (5-8) years of experience in writing, formulating copy and editing in the following industries: health care, hospital, health plan, advertising, public relations, or other relevant industry. Minimum five (5) years of post-college experience as a writer in a journalistic, corporate, agency or health care setting. Has experience of collaborating and writing with senior executives, marketing, and corporate communications to develop leadership content and communications.

Education Qualifications


Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, English, Journalism or related field from an accredited institution required.

Preferred Education


Master’s degree from an accredited institution preferred.

Drivers License Required


Knowledge Requirement


Superior writing and editing skills, with an expertise or deep understanding of health care trends and programs impacting regional and statewide markets and regulatory agencies. Understanding of the social media landscape will be preferred. Ability to link organizational objectives to communication planning and writing.

Skills Requirement


Demonstrates proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, web-based-email applications, and basic familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and HTML capabilities. Strong writing and research skills. Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills.

Starting Salary: $75,296.00  - $95,992.00
