Position Summary/Position

 

The Director of Innovation & Acceleration is responsible for providing thought leadership to business leaders across the enterprise to address ambiguous problems and opportunities through internal innovation consulting engagements and the running of targeted experiments.  This role will serve as a director level change agent, leveraging a consistent data driven, disciplined approach to innovation at IEHP, with a strong focus on Quality. This role will collaborate with stakeholders across all functions to translate enterprise and business-unit strategies and challenges into specific opportunities for experimentation and innovation with clear objectives and key results. The Director of Innovation & Acceleration will have direct oversight of the Innovation Acceleration team, ensuring experiments are bold tenable and focused, and in aggregate sequenced to drive the drive the greatest impact.  The Director of Innovation & Acceleration will have a pivotal role in informing the ongoing building and execution of enterprise and business-unit level strategies to strengthen IEHPs ability to transform healthcare.

Major Functions (Duties and Responsibilities)

 

1. Establish a systematic, consistent, repeatable approach to innovation, from proof of concept to scale.
2. Engage with executive leadership to develop and execute on an innovation road maps 
3. Champion new concepts and experiments across the organization by engaging team and the board and creating alignment, and educating key stakeholders throughout the organization
4. Manage the budget for all initiatives in the Innovation Acceleration team. 
5. Research market trends and user experiences to support the design of new visions and possible scenarios for the organization
6. Collaborate with strategy team to algin work with strategic direction of projects/programs and alignment across the enterprise, to inform decision-making at all levels of the organization
7. Define comprehensive enterprise and business-unit concepts that tie to outcomes that produce value for Members, providers, and colleagues 
8. Leverage market, external, and industry insights to identify opportunities and make strategic recommendations, including building our enterprise competitive intelligence capabilities 
9. Facilitate design session, workshops, or focus groups to engage key stakeholders across the enterprise 
10. Define business cases for most promising concepts.  Lead process of determining what work should be stopped or changed based on progress and measurable impact of concept
11. Lead design sessions and produce supporting artifacts to flesh out most promising concepts
12. Manage and report on approved experiments through the innovation lifecycle
13. Create highly professional presentations to communicate and support findings 
14. Create executive materials to maintain clear, succinct, and meaningful communication with Executives and Community Leaders.
15. Lead and motivate direct reports to perform their duties in accordance with established departmental and organizational policies and goals while delivering exceptional customer services. 
16. Keep a finger on the organization’s innovation efforts and the culture’s openness to new disruptive concepts; helping develop actionable recommendations to the Executive team.

Experience Qualifications

 

Requires at least fifteen (15) years of prior relevant experience (Consulting, Product Management, Innovation). Executive level consulting experience required. Experience navigating large and complex organizations, including gaining access to key executives and stakeholders and successfully managing relationship building dynamics and processes within a highly matrixed environment. Proven leadership experience.

Preferred Experience

 

Agile methodology experience preferred.

Education Qualifications

 

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required.

Preferred Education

 

Master’s degree (MBA, MPH or MHA) from an accredited institution preferred.

Professional Certification

 

Design Thinking certification required.

Professional Licenses

Drivers License Required

Yes, must have a valid California Driver's License.

Knowledge Requirement

 

- Deep understanding of innovation and strategic frameworks.
- Strong knowledge of application of technology and digital transformation.
- Strong Knowledge of management consulting and client management, including meeting and workshop development and management, presentation production, inductive/deductive reasoning, client interviewing, issue analysis, data analysis, process design, change management.

Starting Salary: $153,670.40  - $195,936.00  

Pay rate will commensurate with experience
