Position Summary/Position

 

Under the direction of the Database Manager, the level III – Database Developer is responsible for the design, planning, development and maintaining of IEHP’s internal applications’ backends. The developer will be involved in data integration projects between internal and external systems. All while following coding standards throughout all aspects of the solution development to produce efficient and high-quality solutions.

Major Functions (Duties and Responsibilities)

 

1. Design, develop and implement reliable and effective database systems based on business requirements.
2. Prepare design workflows for assigned database projects.
3. Develop technical and training manuals.
4. Modify databases according to requests and perform tests.
5. Evaluate existing database and recommend improvements for performance efficiency.
6. Develop best practices for database design and development activities.
7. Optimize database systems for performance efficiency.
8. Ensure data quality and integrity in databases.
9. Lead database (relational and non-relational) design and architecture to support application development projects.
10. Identify any issues related to database performance and provide corrective measures.
11. Troubleshoot database related issues in a timely fashion.
12. Create complex functions, scripts, stored procedures and triggers to support application development.
13. Provide data management support to users.
14. Ensure all database programs meet company and performance requirements.
15. Research and suggest new database products, services and protocols.
16. Work under minimal supervision with wide latitude for independent judgment.
17. Conduct code reviews.
18. Direct and mentor some level I and II database developers.
19. Serve as a subject matter expert in key business projects.
20. Recommend improvements to existing ETL jobs as necessary.
21. Analyze and integrate new technologies with existing applications to improve the design and functionality of applications.
22. Clearly and regularly communicate with management, technical support colleagues and business units.

Experience Qualifications

 

Seven (7) years with MS SQL Server. Over six (6) years of experience performing database (RDMS) development and support. Hands on experience with T-SQL. Experience in programming, analysis and design, systems development, or database administration. Experience with MS SQL low-level database, query development and Stored Procedure tuning and optimization. Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. Experience using Source Control and management tools such as Azure DevOps and Gitlab/GitHub. Experience transforming requirements into Design Concepts and ERDs using Visio and similar tools.

Preferred Experience

 

Experience preferably in a healthcare setting.

Education Qualifications

 

Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics or Engineering.


Significant experience may be considered in lieu of degree: In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 11 years of relevant work experience is required.

Knowledge Requirement

 

Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws. Knowledge of popular SDLC models (Waterfall, Agile - Scrum and Kanban). Understanding the practice of DevOps. Working knowledge of non-relational database (NoSQL) designs using MongoDB and others. Detailed knowledge of database technical architectures, ETL, data structures, and reporting tools. Fluency with at least one scripting or programming language. Knowledge of MS SQL standard database maintenance, monitoring/alerting and best practices. In-depth understanding of data management. Familiarity working with .Net code, WebAPIs, X12, HL7v2 and FHIR.

Skills Requirement

 

Exceptional communication skills that demonstrate understanding of complex technical details. Clarity of thought. Excellent analytical and organization skills. Adept at handling multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment. Highly skilled in developing and optimizing T-SQL (DDL, DML, DCL) queries with MS SQL Server 2016.

Starting Salary: $111,550.40  - $142,230.40  

Pay rate will commensurate with experience
