Position Summary/Position

 

Under the direction of the Manager, Social Determinant of Health Programs and the Supervisor, Independent Living & Diversity Services, the Cultural & Linguistics Services Coordinator, supports IEHP’s compliance with Cultural and Linguistic (C&L) State and Federal regulatory requirements. This position assists in the development and/or implementation of Cultural & Linguistics Services /activities, such as: 
- Daily processing of Alternative Format Standing Member requests, such as Braille, Audio, Electronic, Text to ASL and Large Print, for members
- Process Alternative Formats Follow-ups and Program Referrals in Medical Management System 
- Connect with Members as necessary to assist with alternative format requests. 
- Responsible for all coordination and logistics of Persons with Disabilities Workgroup (PDW) quarterly meeting i.e., assist Members with application submission and coordination of accommodations, transportation, food, promotional items, captioners, conference room, badges, prep agendas/ sign-in-sheet.
 

Major Functions (Duties and Responsibilities)

 

1. Complete daily processing of Alternative Format Standing Member requests, such as Braille, Audio, Electronic, Text to ASL and Large Print, for Members. 
    a. Review daily excel report to enter data into IEHP systems (MedHok)
    b. Download Member letters, rename, and re-save in appropriate format. Notify appropriate parties when letter is uploaded in correct format.
    c. Submit alternate format selection to DHCS via website/phone call.
2. Ensure coordination and logistics of Persons with Disabilities Workgroup (PDW) quarterly meeting i.e., assist Members with application submission and coordination of accommodations, transportation, food, promotional items, captioners, conference room, badges, prep agendas/ sign-in-sheet. 
3. Actively recruit Members for PDW by calling Members through the leveraging of reports produced by the Healthcare Informatics Team.
4. Convert event follow-ups to MedHok Program Referrals in Medical Management system daily by end of business day upon receipt of follow-ups from Member Services Department in order to properly document how members are assisted.
5. Connect with Members via phone call to confirm Alternative Format referral and educate Members on Alternative format options ensuring Members’ records are updated with appropriate selection. Process Alternative Format Program Referrals. 
6. Coordinate non-medical Interpreter services and ADA accommodation requests to accommodate Members. 
7. Participate in Telephonic surveys as required by management, to support department goals and priorities, i.e., Member Cultural Needs Assessment and Member Experience Survey.  
8. Assist with submitting requests to update team collaterals/brochures, including re-prints and inventory orders. 
9. Serves as a liaison establishing accurate communication and coordination of services for the organization’s Members.

Experience Qualifications

 

One (1) year of experience in a project coordination, translations or interpreting services required. Experience addressing issues of cultural and linguistic competency and racial and ethnic disparities in health care.

Preferred Experience

 

Experience with a health plan or working with culturally diverse populations preferred.

Education Qualifications

 

High school diploma or GED required. 

Preferred Education

 

Associates degree from an accredited institution in a Healthcare related field or Cultural and Linguistic studies preferred.

Drivers License Required

Yes, must have a valid California Driver's License.

Skills Requirement

 

Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft products:  Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, and Access, sufficient for use in all aspects of an office environment. Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.

Working Conditions

 

Position is eligible for Hybrid work location upon completing the necessary steps and receiving HR approval. All IEHP positions approved for telecommute or hybrid work locations may periodically be required to report to IEHP’s main campus for mandatory in-person meetings or for other business needs as determined by IEHP leadership.

A reasonable salary expectation is between $45,884.80 and $55,993.60, based upon experience and internal equity.
